Description
Indiangrass is a tall prairie grass forming upright clumps with blue-green summer foliage that turns golden in autumn (it is one of the first warm-season grasses to produce seed).
Tolerant of a wide range of soils, including heavy clays, Indian grass grows easily in dry to moderately well-drained soils and needs full sun to thrive.
Drought-tolerant, Sorghastrum nutans creates a habitat that supports wildlife, including songbirds and game birds. It can self-seed aggressively and may not be suitable for small spaces, but it is a good companion grass for a wide variety of wildflowers.
